Rummet uppkallat efter tolagsskrivaren Johan Casparsson Poppelman som 1645 hade ett hus på tomten där dagens Södra Hamngatan 11 ligger. Troligen låg Poppelmans hus mot Drottninggatan eftersom det mot norr bara fanns en stig längst stranden. Här låg endast magasin och uthus, som man nådde via strandens bryggor. Först efter branden 14:e April 1721 fick Södra Hamngatan sitt nuvarande utseende.

Rummet är utrustat för konferenser och möten med videokonferensutrustning, gott om skärmar och projektor.
