I Joniska matsalen på andra våningen hade William Chalmers åtskilliga gäster som han bjöd på middag. Hans kock, den franskfödde Louis Bonvalet, var en oerhört duktig matkonstnär och att bli inbjuden till middag i Chalmersska huset var en eftertraktad ynnest som få tackade nej till.

Då som nu serveras det förträfflig mat i våra matsalar och gästmatsalen på andra våningen används till både luncher och middagar.
